Hi, I’m Raul Cunarro, founder of Axis Des Moines Rehab & Remodeling. Axis was created for one simple reason: too many homeowners pay far more than they should for renovations—and still don’t get the quality, communication, or reliability they deserve.

My expertise comes from years of doing this in real life, not just talking about it. As a real estate investor, I’ve purchased properties, renovated them from top to bottom, and turned them into beautiful homes again—whether the plan was to sell the house (flip) or hold it as a long-term rental. That kind of work forces you to learn fast and learn deep: how to build the right scope, how to sequence trades efficiently, what materials perform over time, what fails, how inspections work, and what it takes to produce results that look great and hold up for years.

But here’s the part that matters most for homeowners: I’ve also seen the renovation industry from the customer side. I’ve dealt with inflated quotes, vague scopes, “surprise” add-ons, contractors who disappear, and work that looks acceptable for a moment but causes problems later. And once you experience that, you realize how unfair the process can feel—especially for homeowners who don’t remodel often and shouldn’t need a construction background just to get treated honestly.
